United Way CSO delivered 5 car seats to Lake Country Health Planning Society as part of the Child Safety Initiative, a partnership between United Way CSO, Central Okanagan Foundation and KGH Foundation. Costco kicked in extra funds and ordered the seats. Eligible families in Lake Country who can’t afford a car seat were able to pick them up from the Health Planning office. A total of 84 car seats were distributed to agencies within the United Way CSO region for the pilot program.
The United Way hopes to continue the program next year as they focus more on tackling the root cause of poverty in our communities. Funds for this initiative came from the United Way “Impact Fund” which is used to invest in partnerships, collective impact initiatives, capacity building and increasing access to services and supports.
